Update on site progress.

So in the past 24 hours I’ve managed to get things up and running again, having it nearly perfect, then completely screwing up everything, and back to having things up and running again. In the midst of trying to tweak things for the better I always end up screwing everything up. Don’t you just hate that? Anyway, I’ll be fixing things here and there but mostly trying to concentrate on the things I need to get done in the real world as my first priority [again, as much as it kills me to not have this site up to perfection]. I’m still unable to access my options >> reading panel in my wordpress admin, which makes me mad because I dislike having wordpress only show one entry at a time, but I guess I’ll have to deal with it until some miracle happens and it gets fixed.
Ohh, and did you happen to know I live right where president Ford is being viewed? Mom and I didn’t want to brave the lines to see him, not to mention all the strict rules [no cell phones or purses!]. Hopefully we’ll be able to drive by tomorrow and I’ll get a few pictures. I came to the realization that not everyone is lucky enough to live right here where he once did- yeah, it’s pretty awesome.
On a parting note check out this picture of me and this awesome cereal:
Erika and this exclusive Johnny Depp cereal. Mmm.
You’ve got to be kidding me [x2!]

Edit: Hello k2! Where have you been all my life?
Look at this, Erika got un-lazy went insane and actually made a layout. And all before 1AM! Yes, I’ve been tinkering with color schemes and putting this together for the last.. many hours, and now I can finally sleep in peace! This thing-a-ma-jig wordpress phenomenon is simply the coolest, but I’m not even going to get into explaining. Just click the link :] Tomorrow I will try to suppress my urges to perfect this layout and FORCE myself to finish my homework! Good night.
Okay. So I just upgraded to wordpress 2.0.5 and I have noticed some useful changes [okay, so I’ve only noticed one: the fact that I can now use the WYSIWYG editor along with my clickable smilies on the admin page]. However I’m also having some obnoxious errors, one seemingly upgrade related and another not. Mind you, this is the second time I am writing this, having accidentally erased the first version of this post [thus the x2! in the title], and I must say that writing it a second time is more frustrating than the first.
Error #1: After I upgraded to 2.0.5 when I attempt to delete previously published posts [talk about alliteration]- which I would like to have the authority to do- wordpress has the nerve to tell me, the administrator, that I don’t have permission to delete posts. Silly wordpress. What the hell, it just started working. I won’t question it- yay :] I think it had something to do with me re-uploading /wp-admin/user-edit.php because it had an error in the admin panel.
Error #2: For some reason, coincidentally after using this photoblog theme, if I try to change the number of posts displayed on a page [options >> reading] I get my own 403 forbidden page. So, I am unable to change anything in the options >> reading category, including making the number of posts viewable on a page greater than one. This boy is awesome. Now I just have to dig around the css and fix the links from that ugly color.
I posted a version of the above in the wordpress support forum but so far no replies
. One more thing, why are pre-made wordpress themes so ugly? I’ve spent hours today searching for a nice, simple theme to make my life easier -but no. Hours wasted and no decent theme found. It would have been quicker to make my own but I just don’t feel like it. Actually, I did find a nice one [plain, nothing too interesting, but nice], only to click the download link and have the files not there any longer. All the other ones seem to have hideous colors and big, ugly fonts.
End of ranting. If someone can help me with the afore mentioned problems, please do. I’m stumped. Until I figure things out I suppose my perfectionist tenancies are gonna’ go crazy with my website a mess like this. Knowing me, until I figure this out I’m not going to be able to concentrate on the things I need to [ahh, winter break reading, senior portfolio, and practicing for the yearly scale test in band]. I suppose that last thing to do sounded slightly lame. Haha.
Winter Break!

I finally got my belly button pierced on Saturday. I’m so proud of myself. What a good way to start of winter break, don’t you think?
Christmas is coming so quickly and I still have to do some last minute shopping with Nasim tomorrow- not to mention wrapping. BOBBFF’s birthday is also on Thursday :] I’ve decided that I’m not even going to worry about the few assignments that I have for a few days. Speaking of which, is this book any good? It should be a quick read and I figure anything written in first person has to be good, right? Haha. Luckily there aren’t any other assignments tagged along with it. You know how those go; read the book in a few days and procrastinate the essay until the last possible minute. I also have to get to work on my senior portfolio, which should be pretty easy to put together. I’m hoping to get some free college money from it, because I could sure use every penny! I’ve applied for a few scholarships [and will be applying to a few more], but of course they also make you wait until the last minute to notify the winners. I’m crossing my fingers that onceall the chaos is sorted out the remainder of my senior year will go smoothly. Actually, this year has been pretty low-stress. I’m so relieved; because I sure can’t say that for my sophomore year.
I haven’t written like this in a long time, it seems. I almost regret dumping all my old blog entries, but then again not. It makes me wonder if I still have anyone reading this, haha. I think I love this domain far too much to ever get rid of it completely. How long have a had it now? [checks whois] Since March 22, 2004. Seems like it’s been forever since I registered band-geek :] Oddly enough March 22nd is Brett’s birthday, too.
Today I’ll probably sit around, decorate the Christmas tree
, and hopefully see Brett later
Guess what?

My life is better than yours.
And not for one second will I let myself think otherwise.
Sleep soon.

Right now I’m feeling somewhat philosophical. However, I am way to exhausted to elaborate on anything at the moment.
Band = exhaustion, inevitable frustration, lack of sleep, homework cramming, unforgettable friendships, and undeniable LOVE.

So basically… my feet hurt, I have two nice blisters from my shoes, I’m horribly exhausted, and slightly hungry.
THE AFTERMATH OF BAND.
However, I am showered and all clean feeling now. Yet still hungry. And blistered feet. Blahhh. I’d elaborate more on the finer points of the day but I’m just too tired. On a good note, wearing those yellow link leadership shirts were worth it since a freshman actually needed my help. It was so cute. I suppose the shoes were worth the blisters, also. Haha.
Eight semesters of high school.

In link crew, one of the activities we’re planning with the freshman allows the seniors to tell their “story” [more like, high school story- if you will]. Each of us had time to write some experiences we’ve had for each semester in high school to share during the demonstration with our freshman. The themes of all the activities are based on getting over obstacles that may stand in your way throughout high school. Here’s what I’ll hopefully get to share with my freshman:
1. When I was a freshman I was lucky enough to have already had the chance to become comfortable with my new surroundings since I was apart of the band.
2. I was on track and happy about my schoolwork not being too difficult to handle with the other activities I was involved with on campus.
3. My sophomore year, I tried to put more on my plate than I could handle and I became pretty stressed.
4. The year started out pretty rocky, but I was able to make my way through it and I learned a lot about time management and not trying to do more things than I could handle at once.
5. Going into my junior year I was able to balance my priorities and keep on track.
6. I let a few things sidetrack me from my schoolwork, but luckily everything fell into place and set me up for a great senior year.
7. I will be starting my first semester as a senior this year and applying for colleges in the fall.
8. In June I will be graduating and it seems like my whole high school experience has gone by so fast, but looking back, I will always cherish the memories and experiences that have shaped me into who I am today.
:D

Do you believe that praying mantis are good luck, like I do? Because I saw a huge one that flew onto my screen door tonight :]

And the worst part is I keep thinking about the stress of senior year, and then what happens after I graduate.
RSS feeds

I learned the art of RSS feeds a few minutes ago. Sage, where have you been all my life? Everyone with firefox must download this wonderful creation if you haven’t already. Then add me to your RSS feed: http://band-geek.net/wp-rss.php. Furthermore, everyone using IE must immediately download firefox, then proceed as instructed above.
Also, my long lost hostee, Adam, is returning to me!

Resized an adult large shirt into a tank top.
Added fabric to the bottom for length.
Final touches include two bows on the straps to blend with the bottom.

My driver’s license finally came in the mail! AHH! The picture looks really good and my signature doesn’t look bad like I thought it would – it actually looks good! This made my day great. I called back It’s A Grind today [since I applied there for a job the other day] and they said they weren’t hiring much at the moment, but I’m at the top of the list :]. No worries, I’ll just apply for Starbucks. I already downloaded the application and everything, so I’ll fill it out today and turn it in tomorrow. I want a summer job!
Does anyone really know who Chuck Norris is?

“When Chuck Norris plays Oregon Trail his family does not die from cholera or dysentery, but rather roundhouse kicks to the face. He also requires no wagon, since he carries the oxen, axels, and buffalo meat on his back. He always makes it to Oregon before you.”
Mahler died on my birthday in 1911.

And I thought nothing interesting happened on my birthday, except for the fact that it’s my birthday. Speaking of which, I happen to be turning seventeen TOMORROW! Myspace sure does spread word, haha.
The games I ordered off of amazon came in the mail today :]
Mario Kart [~$14], Zelda [~$10], and Perfect Dark [never opened $.01, ~3 with shipping]!
I have so much math homework to finish today. I want absolutely no homework for tomorrow. My boyfriend keeps talking up his presents that he got me so I’m excited to see what he came up with, haha. We’re going to one of my favorite mexican restaurants for dinner tomorrow :]
….Brett’s coming over!

Importing b2 to wordpress.
posted April 12, 2006 at 1:30 pm | Internet | Comments (0)
Okay. I’ve given up. Importing b2 to wordpress 2.0.2 is a pain in the ass. In order to do so I had to delete everything and install an older version of wordpress, importing and upgrading until getting to the current version that I had already installed and practically perfected. Talk about taking a gazillion steps backward. I suppose I’ll have to start anew. I’m sorta dissappointed that I have to dump 2+ years of posts, but I suppose I did the same thing when converting to b2. Besides, it’s not like I read through them anyway, and some things are best left in the past. Now I can better monitor the posts I’ve written without going through the past ones. On the positive side, I did get the clickable smilies working on the admin page.
band-geek is in the process of coming back.

WordPress is the shit <33
Hold tight while I work on importing my b2 posts, customize the features, and fix the layout.
